Saving on Diesel fuel
Operating a Truck or a fleet of trucks, the challenge is still the same. With the increase in fuel, the cost of diesel becomes an ever increasing part of the operating cost of a Truck.
The issue of saving on Diesel becomes of greater importance over time, but what can be done in this area. As it turns out there are a few things which every truck operator should look into.
It’s all about getting fuel economy so the MGG (miles per gallon) increases. The engine will burn less fuel the smoother it turns, so it needs to be in good service order to start with.
The next issue is related to lubrication of the engine. The better lubricated a trucks engine is the smoother it will run and the MGB will increase.
One may think that all Diesel fuel is the same. Nothing could be more wrong. You need high quality diesel, as they have a better lubrication effect. Still the quality of Diesel varies somewhat between shipments, which is very hard to check.
The best advice is to find one high quality brand, that you are happy with and try to stick to that at all times.
Then there is the question of fuel reformulators. This is a proven concept that has shown to have a positive effect on the miles per gallon of trucks using it.
